We buy ageing, overlooked companies and breathe life back into them.

Praetor is a private holding company. We take controlling stakes in solid, unglamorous businesses that have stalled, then back the right people to run them, with real skin in the game and a clear direction.

Three companies today. Three more by the end of 2027. Real businesses that people wrote off too early.

How we bring a company back

The method
01
Acquire

Buy what others overlook

We take controlling stakes in solid businesses selling for less than they're worth, usually because they're unfashionable, misread, or just tired.

02
Diagnose

Build the 100-day plan

We get inside the business and read its numbers before we change anything. Out of that comes a 100-day plan built for that company. No two look the same.

03
Rebuild

Overhaul, not a tidy-up

This is where we are strongest: data, technology, sales and marketing, and process. We rebuild across all of it so a good product and the team behind it can thrive. A real overhaul, not a light touch.

04
Steward

Hold, or sell it on

We keep what's worth keeping and sell what's better off elsewhere. Every deal runs through its own vehicle, so owners and Praetor stay on the same side.

Good businesses rarely break. They lose momentum, and momentum can be rebuilt.

Praetor is led by Luke Hampshire. He stays close to every business at board level and on the numbers, without trying to run all of them day to day.

He has built and run businesses across private aviation, e-commerce and property tech, and learned that what makes the difference is how well a business is set up and who is running it.

So Praetor keeps the good people where it can, gives them a real stake in the outcome, and backs them with a clear direction and the support to make the business thrive. We open to outside acquisitions in 2027.

Bring us a company

If you own or run a business that has stalled, we'd like to hear about it.

  • Has real revenue, and has turned a profit before, even if it isn't right now.
  • Unglamorous is fine. Overlooked is better.
  • Aviation, consumer, property, services, or near them.
  • A founder ready to sell, partner, or step back.

Kept confidential. If it's a fit, you'll hear back.

Thanks.

We have your message. If it's a fit, Luke will get back to you within a few days.
